Why it started
I have played guitar for most of my life, and over the years a lot of cabinets came and went. What became impossible to ignore was that the cabinet changed both the tone and the feel of the instrument more than I ever expected it to — and yet it was usually the part built with the least engineering intent behind it.
Most of my working life has been spent as an acoustics consultant, solving problems where precision and measurement decide whether something works or not. Once you have looked at a guitar cabinet through that lens, you cannot unsee it. Every product is a set of design decisions. Every material, dimension and finish either has a reason behind it, or it doesn't.
The more I looked for gear that met that standard, the more I found myself waiting for somebody else to build it. Eventually it was obvious that somebody would have to be me.
Design and prototyping started in 2024. Rawrawk was founded as a company in February 2025.
Who builds it
It stopped being one person fairly quickly. Rawrawk is a family workshop in Northern Portugal — not a factory, and not a brand putting its name on somebody else's boxes. A garage with workbenches, a CNC, and a handful of people who happen to be related to each other. One of us designs and machines, one handles finishing, one keeps the business side upright, and when a batch is going out, whoever is around lends a hand.
We will be honest about the scale: the workshop is still being refurbished as we go. We would rather tell you that than photograph it from a flattering angle.
What we believe
Good design shouldn't shout. It should simply work.
Clean industrial lines. Honest materials. Thoughtful engineering. No unnecessary decoration and no gimmicks. Every product starts with a problem worth solving, then goes through sketching, prototyping, measuring and refining until it feels right — not until it hits a price point.
Why Portugal
Building here lets us work closely with local suppliers, keep control of quality, and support skilled trades. It is not the cheapest path and it is not always the easiest one. It does mean we can be confident that anything leaving the workshop meets the standard we would expect if we were the ones buying it.
Independent, on purpose
We don't answer to investors or shareholders. We answer to musicians.
That isn't a slogan, it's a practical difference. It means we can spend another month on a design rather than rushing it to market, and change something because a player told us it wasn't right.
The Quasar was the start
The Quasar is where this began, not where it ends. The Nebula followed because a pedalboard turned out to have the same problem — a stack of obvious decisions that nobody had bothered to make properly.
More is in development, including work alongside an electronics engineer here in Portugal. We would rather announce something when it is finished than when it is merely promising. If it needs another six months to be right, it gets another six months.
You don't have to take our word for how any of it sounds. What we're aiming for
Rawrawk isn't trying to become the biggest name in guitar gear. We would rather be one of the names musicians quietly recommend, because they have felt the difference for themselves.
If something leaves the workshop carrying the Rawrawk name, it has earned it.
